history
When in 2007 Michael Schumacher rolled the tarp off the model 430 Scuderia, the world understood that Ferrari was not going to stop at merely upgrading the existing F430. The Scuderia originated as an uncompromising manifesto of Maranello engineering - a car shaved to the bone, stripped of cushioning materials and honed to perfection on the Fiorano test circuit.
The heart of this machine is a high speed atmospheric forked eight-cylinder with a volume of 4,308 $cm^3$that produces a mesmerizing performance 510 hp. Thanks to a drastic diet and extensive use of carbon, the dry weight dropped to just 1,250kg, allowing the car to catapult itself from zero to 100 km/h in breathtaking 3.6 seconds.
Compared to the standard version, the Scuderia also has an upgraded transmission software F1-Superfast2that can change gears during lightning 60 milliseconds. It is the last of a genus of “analog” predators, where electronics help the driver not to restrain him, but to allow him to push the limits of physics.
Collecting context
Although Ferrari has never disclosed an exact production quota, expert estimates agree on a production of approximately 1,800 specimens. In the context of today's turbocharged engines with particulate filters, the Scuderia, with its high speed output, represents one of the unattainable highlights of the atmospheric engine era. It is a precision surgical instrument that demands attention, rewards courage and, thanks to its rarity, represents one of the most solid pillars of modern Ferrari collections.
